BSD/BES Reopening Plans

BSD/BES Reopening Plans

The 2020-2021 school year will begin with a temporary hybrid start. The hybrid schedule will start on August 31st and continue until September 11th. The district hopes to begin a traditional schedule on September 14th. (This decision may be subject to change)

The hybrid Start will consist of an A/B schedule in which one group of students will attend school on A days, while the second group of students attends school on B days.

The school’s daily schedule will not change.

Students will be separated into two “Groups” in order to allow for campuses to accommodate 50% capacity.

  • Siblings and students living with guardians will be placed in the same group.

“A Day student” will begin school on August 31st

“B Day students” will begin school on September 1st.

The district will use Canvas as our learning management system.

  • Those students without internet access will pick up and return weekly learning packets.  Every Monday, it is the parent’s responsibility to pick up and return completed assignments.  The teacher will communicate with parents, as needed.

DAILY PROCEDURES

It is imperative for parents to screen their child’s health on a daily basis.

  • Parents should screen for the following symptoms:
    • Fever 100.0 or higher
    • Cold and flulike Symptoms
    • Gastrointestinal problems
    • Unexplained or persistent cough

Students will have their temperature measured with a temporal scanner before they enter into the building.

Once students enter the school building wearing their mask, they will report either to the cafeteria to pick up their breakfast or report directly to homeroom.

Students exhibiting any of the following symptoms will be required to go home.

  • Fever 100.0 degrees or higher
  • Cold and flulike Symptoms
  • Gastrointestinal problems
  • Unexplained or persistent cough

Any student sent home for the symptoms listed above must remain at home for 72 hours and must be free from any fever for 24 hours before she/he may return to school.

Any student sent home for the symptoms listed above may return to school before the end of the 72-hour period with clearance from a physician with a doctor’s signature.

Upon returning to school, students must report back to the office for reentry with Return to School Verification Form filled out by parent or guardian.

Signage will be placed throughout all BSD campuses reminding students and personnel of the best health and safety practices, including hand hygiene.

Masks will be worn by all students and school personnel when entering the building as well as in common places, such as hallways, restrooms, and offices.

Masks will be worn inside classrooms when appropriate social distancing cannot take place.

Teachers will wear masks and/or face shields during times of instruction.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided by BSD Child Nutrition and will be eaten in classrooms to ensure social distancing is maintained.
